pc upgrading help

hey folks, needing a wee bit help here.
i just got broadband from sky- but my pc wont boot up the instalation disc because it runs on shitty windows ME and to use the sky broadband i need to be on windows 2000 and above.
so im currantly using my wee bros laptop at the moment and downloaded windows xp performance edition from Mininova : The ultimate BitTorrent source!, burned the iso to a disc shoved it into my old pc and try to get it going but the message comes up "expects a newer version of windows upgrade your windows version"

should i just upgrade to windows 2000?

Any advice what to do would be greatfull or links to the right file to download from mininova.org

This is most likely because you've downloaded the upgrade version of windows, and not the full version. The upgrade version requires that you have a compatible version of windows to upgrade from.

cheers for the reply man, yea i should have looked the file up 1st and see if it was the right one i needed will try and download the one i need now.
