windows xp lost password help?

long story short, my gran inherited a pc from my uncle who passed away recently and we dont know his password to get into the system ad ive basically sat for hours putting in anything that could possibly be the password and i was wondering if anybody knows of a way to get the password out of the system or bypass it.

when it's booting up hit shift+f8 to get the boot menu then boot into safe mode and log in as admin - that might not have a password, then just create a new account.

Yeah, if he wasn't too computer savvy, then there's a very big possiblity that there's a non-passworded account called "Administrator"

If you can get into an administrator account, then you can reset the passwords on any other accounts as needed.

Offline NT pw & reg-editor, bootdisk

There are other similar things. Have never used so don't know if it works. There was a guy Michael somethign who had a site with a great XP keygen, he also had a utility for bypassing passwords on NT based machines but I never needed to try it
