OSX Leopard. Is it any good?

I've not really used it much, probably for an hour at the most. Anyone else with more experience? I'm trying to find all the new stuff. The new task bar is nice and the new Finder is awesome but I don't think it'll replace Quicksilver as a favourite for me anyway.

I'm sticking with Tiger for now, it does everything I need it to and doesn't have that hideous new Dock.

I'll probably upgrade in the new year when a) I can afford it, and b) 'ClearDock' is set up to run on it.

Time Machine looks useful though, and I can imagine Spaces would be if you were doing several tasks at once.

The dude was pushing Spaces really hard and it sounded good. It's be a few months before all the new bugs that'll inevitably be discovered by the public are ironed out. Tiger was the first Mac OS I'd ever used and it was pretty smooth and fairly intuitive. I'm hoping that I can get things done much quicker on Leopard, plus the fact it's 64 bit so I'm hoping I'll see an improvement in how my CS3 works.

Time machine looks good too. Apparently there is a bug with it with new laptops that I read about so I'm waiting till I've got a backup drive before clicking that icon.

The Time Machine does sound really quite handy. What is this Spaces though?

I'm not typically a Mac user, but their OS's have always been quite sharp (post iMac at least).

Spaces lets you have 4 different desktops to make it easier to manage lots of application windows. For example you can switch between these four virtual desktops; you might have one for all your music apps that are open, another for all your programming windows, another for all your browser windows, and another for all other random windows / apps that might be open and running.

Ah right, like Workspaces in Linux then. 'Tis a very handy feature and now you can see them all on a rotatable cube in the new Ubuntu distro.

looks like they've whacked beryl onto OSX - that window maximizing from the equivalent of taskbar is the same animation my mate had about a year ago on his debian install (along with the rotating cube an stuff).

It is cool for a while though, then the novelty wears off and you realise it wasn't that fuctional after all.

That's been in OSX since the very first version, in 2001.

I'm thinking about making a tri boot using Ubuntu, OSX and Window XP. Ubuntu looks great and the latest version looks even better. I take it you are using Ubuntu then?
