LCD or Plasma?
What's everyone's preference?
Right now I'm trying to decide between Plasma Panasonic Viera TH37PX70 Plasma HD Ready Digital Television, 37 Inch - John Lewis and LCD Samsung LE37R87BDX LCD HD Ready Digital Television, 37 Inch - John Lewis Ignore the prices on there as I've seen better deals to get stands with them, and they work out about the same price then. I will be using it for playing the 360, but not for really long periods, so I'm not too worried about screen burn with the plasma. But It's going to be multi purpose for TV, DVDs and games. Any opinions would be gratefully received. |

Plasma will give you more colors. deeper blacks and a smoother picture.
i didn't know plasma had refresh issues. i don't think it does really. screen burn is only a problem to people who use the tv more that like 10 hours a day. xbox dims itself and stuff. i left a dvd menu on my parents 42 plasma over night (around 5 hours) and there was no burn. the panasonic has a sleep mode after inactivity of you buy a panasonic dvd player ![]() i would get a panasonic TV for ease of use and actual appearance. don't go cheapo either. get the top of the range panasonic of any size and you will be sorted for frikkin years! its defo worth saving up for the top of the range. iv always found LCD soft and washed looking in color and sometimes blocky even with blu-ray feed. i also font like the soft screen. |

I work in currys and have seen my fair share of both i would personally go for a LCD tv as they have a much better shelf life and less temperamental than plasmas, both types have their pros and cons tho. I would also say LG are my favorite make theyre top of the line tvs are amazing but mid and bottom range there isnt much between any of them, just dont go for a polaroid they are shite

i have phillips lcd which is pretty crap as if you are not looking at it straight on the picture loses clarity and the black kind of washes out especially using the xbox on it, not as bad for tv. it was really cheap though...
i like the lg ones in currys in the back corner, wish i could afford one |

ah right, i used to do the same thing for john ross hi-fi. out of all the TV's i ever used pansonic were the best and by far easiest. they also gave the best picture. the 50pz70 (think thats model number, might be pz700) has some of the best colors iv seen on any screen.
