mpeg4 video - mpeg4 movie?

whats the difference?

my ipod will accept mpeg4 video files but not mpeg4 movie files?

wtf?

anyone shed light on this bizzare mystery?

The one on the right might be a .AVI file with the video data compressed using the MPEG-4 codec.

.AVI is one of those container file formats, where the file header data is the same, but the actual content can be in one of many different formats.

If this is the case, then the reason it doesn't work, is that your I-Pod knows how to read MPEG-4 data, but it doesn't know how to get the MPEG-4 data out of an AVI file.

the one on the right is actually on my ipod just now, but the one on the left is the one i converted to an mpeg-4, so you may be right but back to front, if you get me.

can you convert an .avi to an mpeg-4 without it being a shit?
