PC Assistance needed!

i have a brand new M2N-e board with brand new AMD Quad Core, new 2GB RAM, new GFX card

when i boot it just powers the fans up, the green MB light comes on but i get nothing else. no beeps or anything....

the monitor picks up a cable has been attached so think the GFX card is OK, there is no onboard GFX so assuming the BIOS will pick this up...

any ideas whats up?

If its a half decent GFX card make sure you have a power connector attached to it as it needs juice. I forgot to do that and had the same as you are getting now.

Once I connected the 8 pin connector my pc booted up fine.

It may be a 6 pin or an 8 pin connector

yup Rebelius i built it myself, its a 3year old case (350w 20pin PSU) and the MB takes 24pin, although ive been informed you can use a 20pin into a 24pin...

it is a decent card but i cant see anywhere it seems to require power, the fan is spinning around OK and i dont think my PSU has any spare cables....ill need to double check that mind.

what card is it exactly? I don't know of many "decent" newish cards that don't need an extra connector.

If I were you, I'd go for a new PSU too - if it does die, they can often take down your motherboard, CPU & Ram with it.

350W PSU is a pretty low spec. I advise an upgrade on that too. Don't get a £20.00 though or it will go boom and take out your PC. Spend a decent amount if you can, £60 or so.

I went from a 400W PSU to an Antec Quattro 850W PSU. It was like getting a whole new PC. Everything was so much faster.

£15, and thats them gunna re-build it....so its not all bad, if they come to the conclusion i need a new PSU itll be because they tested it (id hope)

ive looked at it to the point of frustration and had so many different avenues for resolving it fail i just gave up.

it maybe my MB needed a BIOS update, either way having someone else stress over it is worth the funds!

As you say, £15 is better than you stressing about it. Just need to make sure they don't try to make you buy any unecessary upgrades.
