Yeah, they can be hacked to run OSX (slowly). I quite fancy an XP one that I could then install FlyakiteOSX theme onto.

i know someone who has the top one, and because of memory limitations etc many attempts at getting XP sp2 were for nothing.

tbh, after trying out ubuntu so far i've seen no reason to go back to xp other than for familiarity!
and you get it preloaded with xp, but those models are more expensive, plus it comes preloaded with linux for a reason ![]() |

They are pretty popular. Apparently there is a 9inch version in the works with a touch screen interface. Would be ace for carrying about.

I'd love an XP one then I could slap the FlyAKiteOSX skin on it
I fully intend to once I can afford it, I've even got a vintage 'rainbow' Apple sticker just waiting to be stuck to the lid. |

The keyboard layout does take a bit of getting used to - the delete key is a pain in the arse and I keep deleting chunks of texts without any idea how I'm doing it when I try to page up or ctrl and home or whatever. That may just be me getting used to ANY laptop keyboard though as I don't often use a laptop.
I don't notice any differenced between the xp on the eee and the xp on my tower. I love the size of it. It isn't the micro notebook size but it is much smaller than a typical sized laptop. Sat it on my mates laptop and my whole thing was the size of his screen! It is useful for what I wanted it for: browsing when I couldn't get on the main Pc for whatever reason and for typing and storing all my college work, research stuff and pdf's etc. The 80gb hard drive is a perfect size to hold my music collection a few videos (which are cycled such as the latest UFC/DREAM or Heroes) as well as all the handouts ppt's and documents. I much prefer that it is solid state than flash too. I have the white model which attracts dust like nothing else, so I have to keep cleaning it. Finally it fits perfectly in the section of my bag that I keep books in! |

904 model mate. The one with the camera above the screen (white model of last pic in my first post).
I thought the 701 models are way to small! They look so awesome but are totally micro and only come with flash memory. ![]() |
