over the internet would be unfair as everyone seems to have different connection speeds. in a LAN however, everyone has blistering real time connections so it would be fairer. I'm sure i can find some place. My dad knows a hall that i could get for cheap.

I've played Unreal Tournament on a P200 before... your computer really doesn't need to be that good. Plus like I said, UT doesn't need the cd to play, so everyone can share the same copy

KJ, where's this hall, how big and how much? Including my band, we've got nearly ten people.

Colleges wouldn't let us install games on their computers, although that would be cool.

We really don't have enough people to make this a LAN event. Anyone up for playing online some time? Who has broadband?

yeah i got broadband, altough im not a very good gamer, and dont have many but tell us what ta get and ill get it and see if they work on my comp (its not the best in the world lol)

Hahaha, up until that 2nd last post, I was gonna offer me broadband connection. A LAN would be mental in dundee with this lot, since we're all into music, beer and games :P

I think Half-Life and it's various mods would be the game of the day, since not everyone has UT and it can be comp-intensive, I like HLDM, TFC, CS and DoD (if you dunno what all these stand for, fuck off! :P) tho I loved carmageddon and didn't know that it was multiplayer. Can't use college comps either as from my experience they were tosh.

ok, i think i have a possible venue, it has tables and chairs, fag machines, a bar, coat room, electricity sockets etc. All we need is computers, a server and lots of cables and maybe a few hubs too. i have 4 lan cables at home. network cards are pretty cheap too, although i think i have a spare one lying around somewhere that someone could have.

So who is up for it if i can get the venue and a date arranged?

KJ I'd definitely be up mate, tho sorting out a server may be a bitch pal, having that you'd have to personally PM each member here who has shown interest; or email them with your moderatring ways, since atleast a few of them probably haven't shown 'follow up' interest yet, you'd have to round 'em up, as it were.

but if we could get a large enough 'interest' in it, this could be the mother of LANs, with people into the same musical interests (alternative), all enjoying a drink (%99 of us atleast) and all being nutters (aunt_gary certified), this would beat any of the Insomnia LANs.

First things first! Does everyone have a network card? wether for home networking, connection to broadband or merely for LANs with mates. If we establish everyone has one of these cards, that's one less problem...
