Whats your favourite book/poem? For me, its a close call between 'On the Road' and 'Big Sur'.

hmm. i read 'on the road' when i was 17 and was totally underwhelmed. I know hes meant to be seminal, unbelievable talented, etc etc...but i found his prose style quite dull. he didnt do it for me at all.

I thought it was quite good, but it wasn't as good as all the hype.

I've read Dharma Bums and On The Road, I liked them both but not as much as I thought I would...think I'm going to have to read some more of his stuff before I can make my mind up. Keep meaning to order Maggie Cassidy from amazon, I've heard thats a great book

Muninn is an unknown quantity at this point
I too was underwhelmed by On The Road... in fact, I don't think I even finished it... think I gave up just over 2/3 of the way through. What's the poetry like?
