heh, we asked this. our teacher said it's 'cause they used to have textual analysis in the exam, and you couldn't do the poem they gave you to analyse as your crit. essay too.

okay so i've got it down to knowing (reasonablely well) two poems, one short story and one drama text. i just hope its enough and the questions are suited to them!

i thought it went quite good! at least the close reading was kinda interesting (Chances of a comet hitting earth). Critical essays were a bit more difficult, i got the drama one with good vs. evil, but had to go for the prose one on interesting style of narration not too sure how well i done over all, quite hard to tell with english.

QUESTION ONE WAS PERFERCT!
i got 12 aswell with visiting hour by MacCaig which was beyond lucky

I gotta say i think there was only one question i answered in the close reading that didn't contain the words "comet impact"

and wtf with the last question?
I was like "I would say passage one, written by a well known scientist was more believable than passage two......an extract from a tabloid newspaper..."

Hey kids higher english is rubbish maths owns the fuck out of it OKAY!?

Purely because I got a C for HE and an A for HM. Our teacher was a wanker though.

Anyone go to St.Johns and get Mr.Collins for English? Pfft. Ms.Nugent owned the fuck out of him.

We had him for half of 5th year, when Mrs Duncan was off ill for an extended period. I thought he was alright.
