one of the best books i've ever read. You'll finish it in a matter of days. Look out for the spoon scene and the jar scene...

i love this book. its well worth a good few reads. in fact, im gonna have to buy a second copy as i lent someone my copy and its now listed on their myspace as their favourite book, so i doubt im getting it back now

yeah, wasp factory is ace. did my adv. higher dissertation on that and the crow road. you should read the crow road and espedair street if you like iain banks' stuff, although theyre both a bit different from the wasp factory.

what makes it even better is that it's set in the same area you live in rob

i want this book cos i have hearad its brill but i cant find it anywhere, went into all the book shops in town and they had everyone of his books except that

you must be able to get it from somewhere, i doubt it'd be out of print. Definately try and get your hands on a copy.

Slightly off topic but has anyone read his Sci Fi works? Though he is a great author the idea of him writing sci fi just never grabbed my attention at all.

My English teacher also gave me a copy of this book, I still have it. I did my Higher RPR on it.

I remember I was quite ill when I was reading it one day, and I got to a certain bit that made me throw up... ugh - I feel queasy every time I think about it.

Now that's a good book.

Only other Banks book I have read is The Crow Road (which kicks ass.) I plan on reading some more.

its got to be the bit with his brother in the hospital right? i felt really ill after reading that bit and had to keep reading it just to make sure that i was definately understanding it correctly. i didnt think anything could be made to sound that horrible.

yeah the spoon scene. its horrific. The imagery is spot on and definately makes you feel a bit off while reading, but you just have to keep going.
