ever written a book?
I was just wondering if anyone has ever written a book? Whatever kind of book that may be.
I just started one, well, I have a concept and a bunch of possible scenarios for it, so it's more like I've written the blurb for 4 books. But one of them will be seen through. Anyway, I was just curious about other writers and what they've done. Has anyone ever had anything published? Have you even shown it to anyone or is it private? I thought about doing my book on here and just putting up a page or two at a time. Maybe someone else could do that with a piece of their work? |

i've failed so many times when trying to write short stories because I get fed up and then get annoyed with myself and want to correct everything. So erm.. keep your cool. Sorry I can't be much help but I wish you all the best.

I know this is an old thread Keerin, but, don't correct everything straight away, i know how easy it is to do that - i must have lost maybe a hundred or so pages of dialougue because of this - Just keep writing. I recentley picked up a fantastic book on writing called Writing from the inside out by Dennis Palumbo. Dennis bassically sticks by the idea that Writing Begets Writing. He says and im paraphrasing at best here, that "Its better to write 10 rubbish pages than to sit and bitch about writing none."
The book is'nt one of those how to books. He is a phsycologist who tries to make your understand why you think the way you do. And he tries to stress to you that you are enough ,that you dont need how to books and such like. You need to hone your craft but not how to books. Please excuse spelling errors and bad grammar as i am writing this in a rush. |

oh the irony. lol
yeah man, I totally get what your saying. Although I haven't had time to go back to it, I've done a chapter of my book so far simply by just writing and writing. I'm sure I could made amendments but I've only made minor changes to it while typing and I'm quite happy with it so far ![]() |

i have so much half written stuff. im rubbish at having the discipline to finish a whole book as of yet. I've started writing a lot more poetry and short stories recently though which seems to suit me better. The site 100words.net is really good for getting accustomed to writing everyday.

Right here goes.I tried this before but it did'nt work. If any of the above people, or, anyone else for that matter would like to share their stories, poetry, novel excerpts, i would be happy to meet somewhere and organise something. Say like a wee writing club, where constructive critisism is encouraged. I know this sounds scary, because i have done this before (joines somebody elses club) but really it gets easier. I just want to meet maybe once a week or once every second week, where we can read our stuff out and give each other encouragement and tips. I would be happy to have it at my flat which is on the Perth road, or somewhere more central if that suits people.
I know alot of you have said things like "Dont want to make a tit of myself" "Id feel too embarrassed." dont, nobody becomes a great writer over night, it takes years. Please, please, please consider this. |
