Which brings me nicely to the one thing that pisses me off about christmas. Christians telling us that we should all "get back to the real meaning of christmas". So that would be the pagan festival then? I'm not sure if it's arrogance or simply ignorance but it really pisses me off.

Or christians who ask if you celebrate christmas, when you tell them you're an atheist. So what should I do? Go into work over the christmas holidays, not drink, or give/recieve gifts to prove some meaningless point?

Who gives a fuck really? Its one of them times that as a general whole, people cheer up and warm the fuck up and have a good time. I like giving presents, theres nothing better than giving someone something they really like. I like recieving presents for the same reason

Agreed. That's what I love about christmas/new year. It's a good excuse to have a good time and drink too much. LD

As a father of 2 teenage girls I dread christmas coming every year, lol. They 'need' EVERYTHING !! I read what someone said about spoilt kids and its the parents own faults but it's not really like that, it's all about peer pressure for the kids, if they don't get stuff that is as cool as all their mates are getting, then they are mortified. And I understand that, it's not too long ago (well maybe it is) that I was in there shoes.

Me and the missus aren't on very good wages but we work all the hours we can, and every year we still get into debt just to try and be Santa. Takes almost until the following xmas to pay that off too.... A couple of years ago, we counted the cost of xmas and it was over £1500 !!!
And a few weeks later it was all forgotten about and some of the stuff broken/lost/ruined.
Christmas has became far too commercial and the only ppl who really gain in the long run are the big nationals like Argos etc.

KILL SANTA !!!

im not religious in the slightest, but christmas still feels magical to me, i think the end of the year is a good time because it feels like a fresh start, everyone is generally happier and the atmosphere is positive.
its very easy to feel loved and wanted at christmas time.
i also like the pretty lights

Christmas would be a good idea without all the religious propaganda... like just a big get together every year for family's etc...

I dont like the fact that kids are being roped into believing all sorts about christmas and what the 25th december actually is, but its there so i may aswell enjoy it by going out and getting trully fucking plastered!
