funeral for a friend are one of the worst bands i've ever heard, i pity anyone who listens to their music thinking it means anything.

i feel like everyone goes really overboard on this band one way or 't other.....Gotta say i think they're pretty average, but mostly inoffensive as well.
Maybe theres a little bandwagonism here (like i hear shouted about all the fucking time), but easly as much from the side of the critics as the fans.
It's cool to hate FFAF for sure....
Dave you dont count in this, cause i know you only like polish industrial death grind. And wee girls

that said, if you like them man you'd probably do well to check out Shai Hulud, Hopesfall, The Hope Conspiriacy, Atreyu...I guess Thrice maybe as well (although i'm not that keen on them either)
course maybe you already listen to all those bands and i'm being a patronising fuck......its happened before like.......

funeral for a friend are a vastly underrated band who are hated and looked down upon because they have had some radio play and therefore are obviously just posers... or something completely ridiculous like that.

i dunno if they're underrated, for everyon that hates them there's someone that loves them. I just think that a lot of people hate them just cause they've got a lot of interest through young fans (which gives people a chance to say '2 years ago you were listening to X and so you don't have a clue' which folk who are pretty insecure like to do) and they're getting crossover success, which means people can accuse them of selling out.
They're still getting rave reviews and making a lot of cash, so I wouldn't feel to sorry for them if I were you.

EP's are 100 times better then the wet album..... but i guess they are doing ther thing...

I think they were mostly picked up from people talking about them on the net, not the radio... hyping them to shit... was it the net's rave reviews that got them a deal in the first place????

So maybe thats why its cool to hate them...

i dont think they have sold out (although i dont know much of thier early stuff), cus if you wanna get the cash and become part of the music byers "rave" you have to move towards "selling-out", then dig out some of the early stuff. Selling out is a tactical move for a band like FFAF... my opinion.

i would never ever put Shai Hulud in the same category as Funeral for a freind... Shai Hulud are in no way 'emo' there pure old school metalcore! and fucking good at that...

Funeral for a freind are a bunch of posing fucking tossbags... and theres no need for it!
