Johnnys reputation

Looking down at a thread to do with Zeke and johnnys reputation, I see a comment about the 'point of reputation being that it is anonymous'. The point of johnnys post was to find out who took his reputation off.

Sorry to point this out kj, but closing something like that based on such a baseless argument is, in itself, hugely childish.

Point me out if I am wrong (after all it is *your* forum ultimately), but as I see it, all the areas of this forum other than 'The Lounge' have a direct purpose. However, this area doesn't, any attempt at dressing that fact up is ultimately futile.

If you cant stand undirected banter, then get rid of the bit of the site you dont like! Until then you should accept that its going to happen and take solace in the fact that it isn't occuring in areas it shouldn't.

I would also like to point out that from an outsiders perspective, your intolerance is very directed towards certain individuals..... This is not a good thing my man.

Can I also ask a question? Not meant in any way to be cheeky (although it is direct), Why do you care? It is an honest question, is there bandwidth concerns or something?

It is *this* kind of stuff that puts me off the site, not personal abuse and banter that I hear all the time, in fact, thats one of the reasons I come to the site! I'd be suprised if others didnt feel the same way I spend about 25mins a day doing stuff on here, thats quite a lot time, something I have decreasing amounts of nowadays.

Other than the above, I think *holisticly* you do a reasonable job at running this site.

Though i must add that alot of people did abuse what was then called the ' Bollocks ' forum. This matter has now been greatly resolved and the individuals chastised. It pays huge compliment to KJ , the Mods and indeed to the site that these people have came back and contiued to post.

I will point out though that it does annoy me slighty that the ' Reputation ' feature is mostly underused and i would appreciate it if more UGS members would use it to agree or disagree with points , posts and ideas!

I don't really care but, there are moderators for a reason in this forum i.e to keep it under control. The end!.

Thats not the point, the point is that he cant find out, and do you think the person that did would admit to it? Even if they did, most wouldnt.

You can call it what you want, but it wasnt childish. I felt my post was all that was needed to address that situation. Was he ever going to get a reply for the 'culprit'?

As for undirected banter, of course i can stand it, i'm not the evil person some people think. I'm keeping the forums as clean and straightforward as i can, if this means closing threads then i'll do it. You'll notice i dont delete many threads, surely thats a good compromise?

There is no part of the site i dont like. If there is, and there has been, i'll make a change, but i wont get rid of it.

I can see why it may seem directed at certain individuals, thats most likely because they are the ones that offend repeatedly. If i left the forum without any moderators, give it a few weeks and you'd never come back. As to your honest question, the bandwidth conerns are not related directly to spam. The spam argument is a matter of making the site an attractive place to visit. Spam = no new visitors / more spammers.

As for why do i care? I wont answer that as i think the answer to that is obvious.

Thank you for airing your concern. The banter can continue, who am i to say it cant? i dont want this to be a dull place. But increasing amounts of spam will make it a dull place, to the vast majority.

If someone slags me during an arguement or "flame war" I will either argue back being mature if I'm in the mood, or call them a pihrana pus. If they didn't want me to "offend" them, then they shouldn't have insulted me in the first place.

I know this isn't directly aimed at me, although you have to admit that a lot of these kind of threads are.
I'm most definatly not loved on UGS. This doesn't bother me really.
