nah rooney needed to come off, he was gettin more and more frustrated and u could c a booking coming. heskey was a bad choice but its not like they hav a lot of strikers to choose from ... alan smith wouldnt been my choice (i dont think he is even in the squad)
so i reckon a good managerial decision in taking him off but heskey wasnt the man to go on. ![]() |

England have 4 strikers in Portugal with them. Owen, Rooney, Vassell and Heskey. Vassell had already come on for Owen so if Eriksson was so desperate to put a striker on it would have to be Heskey.
Personally i would have put on Jamie Carragher and went to a 5-4-1 ultra defensive formation and tryed to play the French on the counter attack |

yeh ultra defense is all well and good except for the fact england was constantly pushing for a second goal to seal the deal because they knew that france gettin a goal back was a strong possiblity. Plus sven would of been gettin a feel for the players playing under those conditions so it wasnt suprising that he used up all his subs.

the game was close in the first half with sweden ahead by one... and until larsson scored the first of his goals it coulda gone either way . . . then he got the second while bulgaria where still recovering . . . penalty was debatable and by then it was all over for the poor wee bulgarians who lost another one just for added effect. |

it was a shame you know, cause bulgaria were playing really well, getting more chances and looking just a bit better than sweden. right till sweden scored. after that they didnt really give up until ten minutes to go, but sweden just kept hitting them on the break.
so, celtic to win euro 2004? or at least, larsson for top scorer as for italy being shite, dont count them out yet, they are always boring as fuck for the most part, i reckon they'll make it through the group stages in second place behind sweden and get pretty far just through sheer bloody mindedness. As long as the most expensive front three in world football (vieri, totti and del piero) learn to score goals again |
