Officila Euro 2004 Thread!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Yesterday- Group A *Portugal 1-2 Greece 7' Karagounis 51' Basinas (pen) *93' Ronaldo *Spain 1-0 Russia *60' J.C. Valeron Didn't maybe go to form, but interesting for the rest of the tournament. Greece were written off by everyone before the game, but i'm not sure why as they won their group by beating Spain in Spain and Portugal had looked unimpressive in their friendly matches. This bodes very badly for the hosts and i reckon they'll be out without getting a point. I think the problem they have is that they have the 'Real Madrid' syndrome- too many attacking superstar players who aren't used to playing with each other and no defence to speak of whatsoever. Spain, however, looked fantastic in defeating Russia. They were spraying around the ball in midfield and, apart from a 10 minute spell in the first half, dominated Russia. They also had a goal disallowed for the old 'if the goalie misses the ball in the air, it's a foul' rule. A slightly worrying thing for them though must be that Raul still looks totally ineffectual for Spain. If Raul starts playing and scoring goals and Spain continue to play like this, they could definately do it this time (at last). Today- Group B- Switzerland v Croatia (3.30 Eurosport, 4.45 BBC- k/o 5pm) France v England (7.15 ITV, or in the pub very soon- k/o 7.45pm) The first game will be a good one- the two outsiders clash and if one can take all 3 points then it should give them a very good chance, especially if the group goes to form and France win all their games, starting with England tonight. It will also be interesting from a Scottish perspective to see new Rangers striker Dado Prso leading the line for Croatia (good luck Dado ). France-England will be a cracker. Seeing the French line-up this morning was scary stuff and i can't really see past them with the team they have. However, Owen and Rooney have started to play well off each other and both have a good international scoring record. It will be interesting to see how Ledley King and David James perform against Thierry Henry, ZZ and David Trezerguet. Not very well i hear you all say . Enjoy |

The England France match was a really good one - france always seemed the stronger side with increasing spells of pressure on england as the game went on. however u hav to hand it to england, they played as a team and in my mind played some top notch football(even tho owen did nothing) and it was extremely unlucky for them to lose but i would say france deserved a win as much as england....roll on the next matches! woooo!

i want to fuckin boot steven gerrard in the face... england deserved to hold the win with their top quality defending when the french pressure was hugggge. Then when they pulled one back it was unlucky but liveable. Taking a point from the match would be acceptable. BUT NO..... NO..... STUPDIDISAKLSJSD}JOASIUDQWE
