slaughter of pheasants in Kirkaldy
courier report
Quote:
As there was going to be an "orgy of slaughter" anyway is this being investigated because the birds were killed needlessly for fun or because they were killed needlessly for fun before a different bunch of psychotic morons could pay to needlessly kill them for fun? |

Yeah I agree with you to a point, cos obviously they were gonna be killed by a few farmers weilding shotguns but for me, the thought of them getting killed from a distance hopefully instantly is alot nicer than them being stamped and beaten to death.
It's weird though cos I wouldn't be able to bring myself to stamped on a phesant's head for fun, so how could they? Strange. |

The fact there is an investigation into their death when they would be ritualistically murdered anyway and its what they were bred for is monty python style humour at its best.

Aww Monty Python...
Anyways I know a few people who go shooting occasionly...they're good people. I dunno I guess I just don't really care about animals the way some people do, maybe if the money going into animal charities was spent on helping out our fellow humans there'd be less poverty and disease in the world...or the rich bureacrats would be even richer, who knows. |

If they are eaten I don't see how it's any different from eating any other animal. |

yeah that's kirkcaldy for you. I used to babsyit for people who went hunting and they had stuffed animals all over the house. A bit scary but i'm not a great animal lover so can't say it bothered me that much.
It's ashame they were beaten to death though, not the nicest way to go |

Well if pheasants are bred and reared......to be shot and eaten, is this any different to a farmer with cows and sheep, keeping them to be killed and eaten.
Just here you can come and shoot your own, and then eat it. Not anymore inhumane than the way it would be killed "normally". How many people actually have killed the things they eat ? Probably not many, which I think is a bad thing in a way. With regard to the specific place in question, I have no idea what happens to the pheasants there, whether they are eaten, stuffed , or just discarded so I can't comment. Of course I doubt Alan G has any idea either but it won't stop him going off on one. Unless of course you'd like to go find out and prove me wrong ? |
