Hello all who read this. I am Poppy Nihilist and I am new to this cyber-friendship game. I will try and return here as often as I can to read your posts and add my own little quirks.

A little about myself: At the age of 15 I realised that all restrictions placed upon myself, be it by adult or law, were merely fictional ribbons, holding me back from doing what I really wanted to do, which turned out to be living in London for a few years and learning how to drive a bus (eventually). I have moved back to Scotland to pursue my painting, which I started down in London, and to be closer to my brother who has just had a baby with his partner.
I do not see the need for pussy-footing around people/subjects/situations just so as not to make anyone feel uncomfortable. If I come over a little stern in my replies it is because I do not feel the need to over-express things which can be said directly and without the bullshit.

Thanks. But I realised the colour was too dark to read easily. My apologies. Are most people on here students/school pupils as some of the posts would suggest? Where are the good bands in Dundee to be found? What kind of a music scene is there? E.g. punk, metal etc etc

there are a variety of small, self contained scenes in dundee; punk, metal, indie, hardcore etc. most are made up of cynical scenesters and rubbish bands, but we love them all anyway. check oot the gig announcements forum for more details.

Thanks for the advice. Scenesters huh? So generally the same old same old 'cept different sounds? Will keep my eyes + ears out for any hardcore gigs though. Hopefully I'll find some other muso girls to hang out with too!
What are the venues like in Dundee? I had a look round Drouthy neebors on the perth road, across from the art college. It seemed alright. When I've been in the town though it's just old man pubs and some sports pub. Are there some decent places I'm missing?

Westport bar, the Beat Bar and the Reading Rooms also do gigs, the bread is a good pub if you catch it on a quite night

the Reading Rooms, the Balcony/Somewhere Else, the Rep, the Beat Bar, the Westport, Dexters, the Art Bar. in the past year we've lost the Cotton Club and the Doghouse.

last weekend Comeback Kid and Champion played at the Reading Rooms, probably one of the biggest hardcore gigs in recent memory.

I can't believe Champion played here! Where the fuck was I? Positive hardcore at it's best! That is so bloody typical of me to miss that. Rats. Seems like I'm missing some cool venues on my walks too.
