Those kids are great. I think people should make fun of "goths" more often, it's great fun and really, really easy.

The Goth movement from the early 80's is GOTH, what we have now is a washed out commercialised fashion statement.

Goth is a lifestyle, not just about black clothes and makeup. I freely admit I was a weekend Goth (sometimes thursdays too for Chopper at Fat Sams). I just laugh at people who think that Marilyn Manson and CoF are goth.

Bands I consider Goth:

Bauhaus - Theatre of Hate - Rossetta Stone - Southern Death Cult Virgin Prunes - March Violets - Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - Fields of the Nephilim - Christian Death - The Bolshoi - Alien Sex Fiend - Sisters of Mercy - Joy Division


Bands that are kinda Goth:

The Cure, Siouxie and the Banshees, The Cult, Depeche Mode, Type O Negative etc


These are just in my opinion though

Seconded! I'm not even a goth, and that pisses me off immensely for some reason. I know it shouldn't but it does.

I think everyone should have to wear collars "The Running Man" style, and if you try to talk about a genre of music without knowing what the fuck you're on about, the collar would explode.

I think a good portion of the blame for this can go to Kerrang. They employ retards who namedrop music genres, without having a clue what the genres actually are.

Yeah them and metal hammer have a massive influence over the youngsters of today. Unfortunately whatever is "cool" by their opinion is then cool by the lal kids.

Unfortunately it seems the magazines seem to just a marketting tool for bands. For example when liking Nu-metal was "cool" everyone said they were nu metal. When it became disliked the mags would say "don't like X cos they r nu metal... like this..." and bands would then say they are cool cos they aren't nu metal.
