I find most people who class themselves as goths just a joke. However back in England my regular club is a rock place and lots of "goths" turn up and some of them seem geniune enough. Kids though... no! no! no!

Guess the worst part is they geniunelybelieve they listen to goth music in CoF, MM, GC etc. Some of the bands are pretty good IMO but not Goth!!! Man half the stuff i listen to has more goth in it...

Just out of curiosity... what would folks class as goth music?

Most people think of blakc metal as goth but its not really is it? Its black metal.

If its rock derived from 80s Synth Pop then a few of my favourite bands are goth (Mortiis, Orgy etc). Never thought of myself as into goth :s

i don't like the way some people are taking this as a reason to dig at goths, i reckon goths would be more offended than we are, i mean ffs... "i took to practicing magic spells and looking at runes" what the fuck did the runes do? dance?

i personally found that hilarious as fuck, as they simply don't have a clue, musical styles grow on people, that little runt seemed to think the mcdonalds crew (a joke within itlsef) were the end all/be all of all his 12 year old problems and mudvayne was the cure. ffs.

i was listening to nirvana and mudhoney for about 2 or 3 years before i first decided "hey, i've ripped my jeans on sommat, but let's not throw them out"

god I'm sure i looked just as ridiclulous when i was that young. I remember my baggy beige short trousers, loud shirts and skate chain the size of my leg. And i'm still listening to some of the bands i used to when i was that age - Green Day, Presidents of the USA, Weezer etc...actualy i still have the same crappy hair-cut too, minus a two shaved head years, it was blonde back then though.

just give them a couple of years to get wise and i'm sure they could be as "hip", "cool" and "groovy" you or i in a few years time, even with a nick-name like Wasted Shaddow Misery.
