Hi,
I was wondering, although I have read the original sticky post, whether random writings constitute as spam or not? I mean, music related post are all good as I'm well into my music and film related posts are all good because of the same reasoning, but if I were to write some random song lyrics of my own, or maybe a day in the life of, would that constitute as spam? Maybe 99% of the readers and subscribers would read it then write to complain, as do 99% of the internet real *spammers* do. What if someone want's to write and post something, just to write? I find it theraputic to put thoughts down and share them with a community, even if they are strangers (although strangers sometimes form a better audience and better opinions and retorts than friends). Like right now I can see people thinking is it ironic he's writing about spam yet spamming himself, or more 'he's some asshole that thinks his thoughts warrant my attention'. But maybe the latter have missed the point, as even now I'm writing just to write, whether you will enjoy reading it or not. Ah, well I'm not looking for an argument anyways, I'm not even questioning a written rule, just making an enquiry I suppose although enquiry is maybe too much of an official term. More posting bollocks on a website for people to frown at, or one out of a hundred be inspired to write some bollocks themselves. Being struck with the importance of independant thought came quite suddenly in a unfamiliar and what seemed to be an unrelated incident - the death and apparent suicide of Elliot Smith, singer/songwriter. Hearing of his death, which was of a gruesome circumstance in an untimely era, I watched back some live performance videos of him playing in various studios including Letterman's. Watching him pour out his thoughts to an audience which maybe couldn't have cared less for the lyrics or musicianship and realising that atmosphere and those thoughts would never be projected again in the same ecstatic and powerful way, myself and anyone else knowing would also know that thought is the most priceless gift and accomplishment any man or woman can possess. But now I'm babbling, anyone who would like to include their own writing of bollocks into the post, unless it is deleted, feel free. Marc. |

Poetry or song lyrics are probably best suited to poetry and literature, but are OK in The Lounge too.
Fictional / real life stories and experiences, or personal thoughts should be in The Lounge, unless it's short and stupid, then Bollocks is the best choice. Basically, anything that can inspire or has the potential for discussion is ok in the Lounge. |
