Right this is something that I;ve been thinking about alot today.

Image.

Do you really care about what others wear or how they look or what they like etc? And does that effect the way you think about them or your relationship with them?

Im not going to preach, because as a person i am very aware of my how i dress and my style etc and like to look my best (or what i think is my best). But personally i dont really care about others image really, like obviously its still a minor factor, but i would never discriminate or treat them differently because of it.

But i see others doing it for many different reasons and on different scales but i still see it.

So as a person, do you think image is a significant factor to yrself and others?

It doesn't bother me at all the way people dress, but as you say some people dress certain ways for different reasons, which I don't agree with. If someone dresses outlandishly, or 'alternatively' because it makes them happy and / or comfortable, then I'm cool with it and respect due, but if they dress up to get attention or to fit in with a crowd, then it does make me look down on them.

As for myself, I've been dressing the same for pretty much 7 years, baggy jeans, trainers, hoody etc, it's what I'm comfortable with, physically and mentally.

edit: In regards to 'looking your best', again if someone is only happy when they are in say 'pristine' condition then cool, but if they only want to look that way so that others notice then it bugs me. Some days I will spend a bit of time preparing myself for the outdoors, others I'll just head out as is, doesn't really put me up nor down.

I'm about as fashionable as a useless nail but I'd like to think I don't look like a pile of shit, and I don't like being around anyone who looks like a disgusting useless cretin*.

*by which I mean, wearing something they're clearly uncomfortable with.

Sure its good to look good, for self confidence etc, but its not that important.

i sometimes think people who are better looking than me don't want to be associated with me or be friends with me and in general think very little of me. this is sometimes true, but often i am pleasantly surprised to find that people don't actually care much about looks when it comes to real friendship. which is nice, because the world, and i too, can sometimes be very, very shallow.

See if you look at me then you would probably think im the worst case of this, because in allfairness i wear stupid shit, but only because i like to. I dont like looking sloppy (unless im going for sloppy chic

)

but i have a wide spectrum of friends, who all have their own personalities and follow different trends, and i get on with all of them the same so when people judge or distance themselves because of image it annoys me.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as smack on this one,

but i recon a lot of people should care less about their looks and more about their smell... i know plenty of people who always look great but seem not to realise that their breath smells like they just ate a rat.

you`ll always get people who care about image, you`ll always get people who dont. you`ll always get people who dont care what others think or wear and you`ll always get people who do. i TRY believe it or not, to be none of these people. i do however sometimes feel the need to rant about specific trends and silly fashions. coz i dont like posers. people who dress to look good and feel good are completely different to posers, IMO.
but i`ve said this before and i`ll say it again. there is no such thing as fashion. things are only fashionable if someone else says they are, so who gives a fuck what you look like or what image you think you have, do whatever you want but if your trying to look `zany` or whatever, expect a few people to say something and dont moan when they do.
