Songs for your funeral

title says it really. what song or songs would you like played at your funeral?

im not a religious person so i`d prefer to have music that meant something to me played instead of having people sing hymns that would mean nothing to me or my memory. im not shitting on anyone`s religion, thats just how i feel.

for me, i`d have to have Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. i had a whole list once but this is the only one i`ve never changed my mind about.

and in the spirit of discussion: is it right to have these songs already picked out? and, does anyone in your immediate family know these choices? if you died this week, would it get played?

Mortiis - "Everyone Leaves" cos i think its a brilliant song and really sad, plus kinda fitting.
then as i go off to be cremated:
Prodigy - "Firestarter" cos i got that nickname as a kid for my ability to accidently set fire to things like microwaves, rooms, clothes, hair, waiters, milk, food....

Maybe an Offspring song too. Gone Away is an excellent song imo and would be very me at my funeral.

I dunno what I'd have. I haven't picked anything out. I wouldn't have hymns or anything either. I'd have my favorite punk songs played probably, ones with meaningful lyrics.

I reckon if I died this week, my sister and my friends would know that I didn't want a depressing funeral with hymns and stuff.

River - Joni Mitchell
After The Gold Rush - Neil Young
Memories - Elvis Presley
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon And Garfunkel
Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks

A lot i know but i'll take a while to burn and we'll have to drown out the sounds of all those supermodels crying at the front........what?

while we`re on the subject of funerals, when my father die`s (and i hope thats still a long long time away) i want to play him `we did it all for Don` by Against Me at his funeral, on acoustic. i re wrote a few of the words to make it more personal but it`s essentially the same song.

Already said, but "Surprise, you're dead" by Faith no more. It would fit perfectly with my sick sense of humour.

Personally I would quite like Elton John to re-write one of his classics for me too and have my funeral live to the world. Altho I'd rather my body wasn't paraded around like the popes.

I want to be remembered after death by like more than 10 people
