background info- sodium is freely filtered from plasma into the first part of the human kidney tubule. the sodium concentration in the initial tubular fluid is therefore the same as plasma (140mM). A normal person filters fluid into the kidney at a rate of 0.125l/min. Sodium that enters the kidney tubule leaves by one of two routes: by reabsorption into the plasma or by excretion into the urine
the rate at which sodium enters the kidney tubule is calcualted using the following: Na entry rate (mmol/min) = Na conc (mm/l) x filtration rate (1/min) problem---- a person excretes 1.2ml/min urine with a Na concentration of 120 mM. Given normal plasma Na concentrationa dn kidney tubule filtration rate, calcualte the amount of Na that must be reabsorbed into the plasma per minute PLEASE HELP |

Na+ entry rate = Na+ concentration * filtration rate
You have to work out the urine filtration rate first, then get the total filtration. Then subtract the difference. Then..... swap the equation round so you get: filtration rate = Na+ entry rate/ Na+ conc. Then that's the answer i think this is what i need to do.... but i cannot do it |

The mole is the amount of substance of a system which contains as many elementary entities as there are atoms in 0.012 kilogram of carbon 12. 2. When the mole is used, the elementary entities must be specified and may be atoms, molecules, ions, electrons, other particles, or specified groups of such particles.
