People only think bass is easy to learn cos most bassists are boring. I'm not talking locally I'm talking about bassists in some famous bands - they're usually background members, playing 4-notes with a pick. Heretics. Also - because a lot of narrower-minded music listeners don't notice to the bass as it is generally felt instead of heard - they will recognise the guitar/vocal melody but fail to realise that the bassist and drummer are carrying the mood of the tune. This is why a lot of bands have girls playing bass, standing looking pretty, just copying the rough root notes of whatever the rythym guitar is doing. Pathetic. Rant over. |

you have a point but in a lot of bands, doing anymore would be overplaying. Lots of music suits having the root note repeated on bass. Lots of music doesn't.
A lot of "good" bassists suck because they overplay way too much. Matt Freeman is a classic example. Technically he's good but a lot of what he plays just doesnt suit the music. |

Totally. I wasn't trying to rag on all simple bassists (or their bands) - I just don't agree that bass is the easiest to learn. Most instruments are easy to learn how to play shite on.
Also - Rebelius, get to the nightshift thread punk. |

Why does doug hang about outside tesco's late at night?
Me and my friend were going to tesco's last night, and he began telling me bout this weird guy he thinks is up to dodgy business, he said the guy used to get on the bus with us last year when we lived at Alloway, he thinks he has a kid, and last year dressed normal but now has mad hair with green bits and wears full on matrix style gear. I pointed out that the nights he see's you with you 'matrix' clothes, your probably on your way to cage, but he reckons you hang about outside tescos doing dodgy things... while jumping up and down to keep warm.... he's quite an observant boy I think |
