seems everywhere the usual debate has arisen.

will scottish people support england at the world cup?

all the tabloids have built it up this year from Jack McConnell,Walter Smith etc saying they won't.

however neither will i be. no power on earth would make me put a st georges cross over myself.

god help us if they win....40years on from 1966....we'd never hear the end of it.

Anyone going to Ghana vs South Korea at Easter Road on Sunday? Essian, Appiah, Kuffour, Park... should be a good game!

And then a dash back home to catch Brazil vs New Zealand on telly.

I couldn't believe the uproar caused by the First Minister and Andy Murray saying they wouldn't be supporting England during the world cup. To make it worse i managed to catch a debate on Talk Sport where the moron host was talking about how people in Scotland who did not support England were traitors to their country, in their words Britian was the country first and individual lands came second.

The host was English and just couldn't understand why there was this rivalry between the Scottish and the English when it came to football. It's nothing malicious, it's just part of the game in the UK.

I won't be supporting England, I'll be supporting every team that plays against them. When it comes to club football however and there are English teams playing, i'll support them and want them to win, appart from Chelsea because they seem to be buying themselves success these days and ruining the game with their rediculous transfer payouts and wage packest.

It's nothing malicious. It's not like i hate English people or anything like that, i just can't stand the constant bragging of the English sporting personalities when it comes to things like this. If they didn't hype themselves up so much before tournaments then perhaps the Scottish population would be more endearing towards them, but it's never like that.

I just got back from London and literally ever 1 in 3 cars had those stupid window flags with the English flag waving in the air. I guarantee if England go out before the quarter finals nearly all of those flags will be taken down and hidden away in disgust/disappointment at another English failure and more likely another English scapegoat who'll be blamed for another potential disaster.

i notice England beat Hungary 3-1 and also Germany came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Japan. Interesting.

Have to say if scotland made it to World Cup I'd support you, unless you played England of course. Cheered Scots on when watching qualifiers on tele but maybe its different for me. Scottish is in ma blood ^__^

hahaha funny(ish) story from Euro Cup. Kid and mum was in a garage and the kid asked if they could have a flag for their car. Mum said okay so kid skipped off and came back with an English flag. Mother then turns round and says "oh but everyone has one of them. Why not get one of those nice blue flags?" and purchased a nice Scottish flag.... some people

TBH when was the last "failure"??? Since i got into footy i'm sure england have got passed the group stage each time

Oh scapegoat = sven no doubt... although have to admit i thought our outings for past couple of tournies were his overly defensive "everyone defend deep" tactics against world class players.

Oh just for record... I reckon England does have the potential to win. Maybe not the best side in the world but sometimes a bit of luck or all players excelling can get you that bit further. Needless to say we'll be out in quarter finals, maybe earlier if we take just injured or inexperienced strikers.

England does have the potential to win, but when they hype themselves up and go out earlier than expected then it seems like a major failure to 'em and that's when the excuses and scapegoats come in.
