Arrow The Official World Cup Thread

Ok, so who is your money on to lift this summer's world cup? Frankly, and I know everyone is thinking this.... but Brazil look unbeatable. I hope that one of the African nations goes far but its hard to see since the usual suspects never made it to the finals.

I'll be supporting Japan and Trinidad and Tobago.

Nah, no way Brazil will win it- they're too weak in defence and will fall apart as soon as they have a half-decent attack against them. My pick is one of the European teams- England, Italy, Germany or Holland. Probably England or Italy, but never rule out home advanatage.

I think Brazil, Argentina and Holland will be in the semi-final. The other place will be bewteen Germany, France, England or the Czech Republic.
Unless Holland under-perform which they always seem to do.

I'll be supporting the usual array of underdogs and then Argentina as a team who could actually win it. They've got some amazing attacking players, and a bit more of a defensive balance than Brazil do and are equally as good if not better in attack. I know England beat them 3-2 recently but they were really lucky that night. Argentina are probably in the toughest group though.

Brazil could definetely be beaten. I think they play with Cicinho and Roberto Carlos at the back so they should leave massive gaps that a decent team could take advantage of.

I thought Germany would do quite well but Italy just thumped them so I'm not sure now. They'll probably end up doing well in the tournament though.

Tevez is 40/1 for top goalscorer so I think I might place a wee bet there.

Anyone actually supporting England?

Holland qualified? I thought they missed out, or was that the last European Championships.

We wont win. Tactics are always over defensive and that proves costly all the damn time.

I'm not sure who'll win, possibly an "upset" but I think Argentina could be in for a shot, or usual Brazil/Italy.

England to win is where my money will be going.

As long as Rooney as at his peak and Owen is back to full fitness they have a great chance.

Eriksson could well come out his shell though with him leaving the job after the tournament. He's got nothing to lose.

Any chance of this being made a sticky?

How about setting up some kind of UGS fantasy football league for the WC.
Iam sure there will be an online one put up at some point.

Me and my flat mates have one already for the Premiership.
