myspace isn't actually all that bad, or is it?

Well most of you know now that UGS has a myspace, well two now infact, and its the first myspace i personally have made on myspace. I've never really been a fan of it actually until recently. Of course you get all the muppets on it but you do actually meet some interesting people and i've already managed to network with a few of them.

I don't think i'll be making a personal one though, not for a while, at least not until the site has all its content and age control in hand and security issues are addressed but even with the UGS page i've started seeing the usefulness of it. I know a couple of people on here who have similar non-personal pages for networking relating to what they do in their working hours and they've said that they've also found it to be really useful.

I guess that the actual positive points of myspace get overshadowed by the negative points but that's the case with pretty much anything really when it's something that is in the mainstream.

Anyone else feel this way?

Yes, I think KYspace is really good for the music aspect and having a band page is very useful, and it's good to keep up with what other bands are doing.

I don't have a page for myself, nor do I plan on having one, I just don't see the point personally.

Billy Bragg's just got them to change / clarify their Ts&Cs considerably for the better, which is a plus. Obviously its ownership still rankles a bit, but it really is supremely handy, although I don't really see the attraction of having a personal page.

i think people go for the personal pages due to the whole blogging and blogosphere movement now, especially since Technorati index blog posts in myspace blogs increasing traffic to personal myspace blogs.

The band pages are great for spreading music which i think was the initial idea behind myspace. I run my own personal blog which is alot more versitile for my needs than what a myspace blog can offer me... for the time being anyways.

you can set blog perferences too so that only your friends can see the content aye? That would come in handy i guess if you had a personal page.

Thats what I generally use mine, just seeing when people are in my home town, or back in Dundee... and its easier to find out when bands are touring as you'll get a message....easier than having to track info down. I have about 3-4 blogs.... all but one of them are just 'I I hate'' rants... and thats good cos my friends that are upbeat hate hearing me rant...but some people are saistic and find it funny when I get pissed off so they actually like reading it.

i think its braw for a laugh...i love peoples blogs and i love speaking to new peoples that i probably wouldnt have spoken to if i didnt have a myspace.

all you have to do is look at that lets all laugh at myspace...thread to see how grand it is
