This isn't just banning people from watching pornography created from images or footage of actual abuse, which would be acceptable in my opinion, but also from watching or possessing violent pornography made by consenting actors using make up, special effects and/or props to depict a scene of sexualised violence.

you just summed the argument up perfectly there. people seem to assume all violent pornography includes genuine violence.

id rather joe random watch two actors rather than having to commit it himself to cure his lust for it.

Ah, I took appear to mean that it would be banned if they were unsure if actual harm was being done but that it appeared so, as opposed to appear as in faking the violence.
