That's sad to hear, although to be honest, aside from the sheet music/music book department, I only ever went into sound control to browse the guitars and amps, and see what they had available.

I'll be sad if websites wipe out retail music stores entirely. How will people be able to try out guitars and amps before they buy, if there are no music stores?

what's gonna happen to the sheet music place now? I always thought it was a separate company.

Well, all the cunts that complained about store prices being higher than thomann and forced us to price- match them anyway after extensive demo'ing and advice will be delighted at this news. It saddens me that some people are still willing to put the boot into the staff, obviously many of whom I've known and are my friends, as all we've ever tried to do is help people out whilst following the often baffling instruction from above.

I personally am not too fucked either way, as I have been needing to leave and do something more worthwhile either way, but it will still be a sad day when you can't go into a shop to buy or try your guitar.

People want it all; Internet prices at shop convenience with personal and considerate aftersales. Unfortunately, this is where that sort of idealism leads.

kingthing is an unknown quantity at this point
I'll genuinely be sorry to see Sound Control go, remeber getting my first guitar out of there and I definately wouldn't want to lose music shops. I don't think it's fair to blame the customers though, surely even when price matching if Sound Control weren't making profit then that's just daft. When I bought a workstation there a few years ago the guys serving me didn't have a clue so I went away did some research on which one was best for me got some prices and the shop agreed to match the lowest one. I don't see anything wrong with asking for a reduction when you haven't been helped by the salesmen instore. That said, I wouldn't want to see any of the guys in there losing their jobs. And surely with Turnkey being a part of the overall company, internet competition can't be entirely to blame. Bad management must have played a huge part

its sad to see it going, how is Rainbow still going if the internet is the cause of this?

bad management is always the root cause, and bobby, your point about trying to help whilst staying in the laws given above you is why some people choose the internet, its a sad situation.

Rainbow don't have loads of stores all over the UK, I guess that a large reason.

Too much growth, too fast, and total mismanagement undoubtedly has something to do with it too, there's no denying that.

aye but my point Kieran is, you still have the same problems, Sound Control maybe able to support losses in one store by having another doing well elsewhere.

i like SC but have found myself browsing a lot more than buying.

but if all of them are working in a depressing market it will hit Sound Control bigger than Rainbow music. That's my understanding.
