ECW, the old days
Is it me, or was ECW better on it's own? I mean yeah I realise they had no real choice but to join the WWE.
But that aside, i used to never miss ECW on bravo, despite the fact it wasn't till the end of it's run you started to see good matches. New Jack (not much of a wrestler) but one hell of an entertainer!!! |

ECW never really "joined" the WWE. Paul Heyman filed for bankrupcy in early 2001 and went to work for the wwe. The name was used as part of the invasion angle but vince doesnt own it, they had an agreement with the the brokers where they paid a nominal amount to try and alleviate some of the debt in exchange for use of the name. I think vince owns the video library now tho.
But yeh, i miss ECW too ![]() |

EC Dub EC Dub EC Dub
I never even watched ECW when it was still in business. Since then when I saw what some of the talent like Tajiri, RVD and Foley were capable of I got interested and am now the proud owner of about 25 ECW videos, They were so entertaining and barely ever had a bad PPV or even a match where the talent didnt try their hardes to put on a good show New Jack was a crappy wrestler but a crazy entertainer and some of ECW's most memorable moments were basically hism jumping form crazy heights. Rob Van Dam in ECW was possibly about the most over wrestler ever and last night I was watching my new Anarchy Rulz 99 vid and Lance storm and Jerry Lynn put on an absolutely brilliant match. Im not picking this one in particular but its just because these are 2 guys who havent been used at all well in WWE. And in JLs case was released without ever getting a chance. Only 4 videos to go now till I have all 21 ECW ppv vids! Yay! |

Ecw was well quality - from the in ring action to the atmosphere of the crowd it was amazing. I got into Ecw in 95 through teh Magazine Powerslam and got videos from Rob Butcher, who at that time was the assistant editor.
Can anyone remember wwf tryin to cash in on Ecw in teh late 90's with shotgun saturday night? Such great gimmicks as teh flying nuns were born! Vince doesn't own the ecw video library because of something stupid like Joey Styles Tradmarked his voice and therefore won't allow wwe to use his voice!!!!!!! It's something fvcked up like that anyway. PS............ I've got an ecw t shirt (just thought i'd brag) |

Fin Martin still writes good stuff but some of the writers are just poopI won a hulk hogan t shirt in a competition in 1993.. just thought id brag ![]() |

i thought joey styles was hilarious as a commentator! He got well into the matches and knew his stuff. Though i must admit that he did get a bit too excitted at times.
I've got a pretty gay old school Shawn Micheals t shirt from 1995ish. Its a big picture of shawn on the front with his mullet!! Its got an all over print of peace symbols with glitter, its really quite bad. The old woman in thr front row of Survivor Series 95 is wearing it if anyone as free timme and wants to see just how bad it really is. Thinking about it, i might wear it at my next gig. i used to have 2 pairs of bret harts pink glasses but i canny find them now. |

I got the ecw t shirt from Rob Butcher. He was going to the states to a few ecw shows and picked it up for me.
Power slam really opened my eyes and taught me a hell of alot about the world of wrestling. It is suffering now but i still get my copy every month. |

more violent
one thing i noticed when ECW was its own entity was the amount of violence. it had more than the wWF at the time and it looked pretty much flashier too. Does Vince McMahon own the ECW also?
Its been a while since i watched it so the whole WWE has prolly changed since that last time i watched it on Sky.

I remmember getting my hands on the infamous king of the death matches video.
It was a bad picture, but at least i got to see the thing start to finnish. A friend (who i no longer like) taped an earlier backlash PPV over it. I still have the last match where cactus beats funk in the barbed wire rope/barbed wire board/exploding ring match. so theres that at least. cactus jack was the main man. his book isgreat. And hell yeah i used to get power slam! i saw someone mentioned terri runnels up there, what was better? her marlena character or terri? |

I had 2 pairs of Bret sunglasses too! I got one when they were at the SECC in 1993 (still got my ticket!) and i got another when they did a promotion where if u sent away a flyer they put inside a wwf video they sent you a mystery gift. Got them within 2 weeks of each other! I've never been so dissapointed with a free gift ever! I'd wanted a pair for ages n then got 2 in a few weeks. I was dead pissed off at the time!
