Bioshock

IGN: BioShock

This comes out on Friday and I will definitely be buying it. For one reason its the spiritual successor to the amazing game system shock 2 that I used to love way back when.

For another thing I downloaded the demo on xbox live and it looks and plays so good. The visuals are a weird sci-fi art deco effort, and although it is a fps it should hopefully be along the lines of the better outings from the genre (half-life).

So basically for anyone that is looking for a new obsession I would recommend watching the video review on ign and buying this come Friday.

Keep meaning to download the Demo myself, got to pick myself up a few new games, need to know if it has a half decent, likeable story tho before buying, really in the mood for a game with a story to it.

Aye, system shock 2 was supposed to be one of the best FPS games on the PC, so this looked exciting from the out but I'll probably leave it for the moment. I will buy it but I have to complete the Darkness yet...!

Yeah, for me too there is no point in playing a fps if it doesn't have an immersive story. I wont give away anything more than in the demo, but basically its the 60's and you are flying to visit family. Your airplane goes down and when you awake you are under water. Getting to the top, you find yourself surrounded by the wreckage of the plane with the only refuge a colossal lighthouse. Once inside you step into a pod thing and press a button taking you further under the water. Its then that a film screen plays you a clip with the voice of Andrew Ryan, he basically tells you that he was through with the restrictions of society so invented his own. Cue the film screen moving away and out of the pod you see a massive neon art-deco city. The city of Rapture was supposed to be the dawning of a new age for man, but things have gone horribly wrong. Time to step into Rapture, try to discover what happened and escape as the whole place seems to fall apart.

The most interesting things for me are the usage of the plasmids, which work hand in hand with normal weapons. These are injections that alter your genetic structure so you can throw fire, electricity, frost and insect swarms whilst pulling out your pistol to finish the job. Yup, it looks cool.

id punt the darkness and get this game instead!

I had the darkness, once you got used to the game it was far too easy and eventually you become pretty much invincible! Gets boring, but there are a couple of shocks later on in the game...

played the demo of this, seemed pretty sweet! i wouldnt have thought it was 10/10 material from the demo but still, was nice!

97/100 after 32 critic reviews on metacritic, one of if not the best score for anything on there.

I played through the demo for the PC today, it's great.

Hopefully buying this on PC next week when I have enough Intergalactic Credits.

Always happens to me, I itch for a game to come out but end up skint at release so have to wait a week or two.

Yeah, I got it yesterday for my xbox. I could only play between work but I decided to play on hard and its really, really good. I am just about to start the garden chapter (think its called arcadia). Most fun so far has been hypnotizing a big daddy to be my bodyguard and then making him fight another big daddy for me.

Nope. Apparently the developers felt that since everyone would be playing Gears of War and Forza that there wasn't much point in putting a multiplayer capability into the game, so they spent all their effort creating the single player side to the game. They seem to have made a good decision in my opinion.

agreed, to be honest I find nothing enticing about multiplayer options for games like this. You can tell how much work has gone into making the world as detailed and atmospheric as possible, if you were just killing people across the other side of the world it would kind of defeat the purpose.

Right at the end now, after plenty of plot twists. Just can't do the last bit.
