I bought myself a 360 about 2 weeks ago now.
It wont work on my tv cos it's over 10 years old and doesn't support 60hz so it's still never been opened. I planned to get a new hdtv a day or two after getting the 360 but I thought I'd check out a few reviews and stuff online first, and now I've just confused myself completely. There's so many conflicting opinions about tv's online. I know the 360 renders games in 720p, and so the perfect resolution for it would be 1280x720, but it's impossible to find an lcd hdtv with that res, there used to be one in argos but its long since sold out. The closest I can find is 1366x768 but am I right in assuming that the 360 will render the game to 1280x720 and stretch it to fit the screen? Also considered a new pc monitor and a vga cable for my 360 but apparently it's not proper 720p through a monitor either, and I cant find one with a 16:9 resolution, they all seem to be 16:10. Basically I've got £500 max, and I want something ideally around 22 - 26 inches. What does everyone here use for their 360? And just out of interest does anyone know what model the samsung tv in the 360 demo cabinets is? Aaaaaand I'd like to run my ps2 through it too, but I've read a lot of reviews where people say their ps2 looks terrible on an lcd. Last edited by Lazzaro : 15th November 2007 at 09:05 PM. |

Currys - Shop for Plasma and LCD Flat Panel TV - Erae ELT4000AP 40" High Definition Ready LCD TV My TV has a maximum resolution of 1366x768, and my 360 looks amazing on it. I've got the resolution set to 1080i, and it looks great. Obviously you can get better than my setup, but I think it looks amazing, especially for games like Gears of War, where the graphics are absolutely amazing. Yes, the 360 will render at whatever resolution you set it to, and the TV will scale it, but I don't think the picture looks any the worse for it. How good it looks will depend on how good your TV is at scaling inputs, but I've no complaints. As for your PS2, I only use mine for guitar hero, which is fine, but if it helps, then my original Xbox looked absolutely gash on it. Racing games like Burnout looked alright but games like Halo 2 were all but unplayable. I think it's worth it though. Last edited by humndislocation : 15th November 2007 at 09:18 PM. |

We have just bought a Samsung LCD, and it's pretty good for the 360.
In fact, when the 360 was first shipped to stores, the demo kiosk things all had Samsung lcd tvs in them. Or so I've been told. Ours is 37" and was £650. I've got it set to 1080i, as that's the best the tv does too. It's a good idea to go into the shops and look at them. Most shops will have at least one person on staff that has a 360, so will know how to advise you. I did like the look of Panasonic ones though.

If anyone's interested I went for this in the end:
Sony : KDL-26P3020 (KDL26P3020) : United Kingdom Have to say I'm totally happy with it, got it for £400 from Amazon (brand new from amazon themselves) and it looks and sounds totally amazing with my 360, yet to try and integrated freeview cos I don't get it in my area , and still to watch a DVD on it but with my 360 it looks stunning. |
