360 media share with PC not working

My xbox 360 connects fine to Live (totally fine) through windows internet connection sharing on my pc but I can't get the media sharing to work. When testing the media connection on the xbox it shows:

adapter: wired
ip address: confirmed
pc selected: failed

My pc connects to the internet wirelessly through a router, I enabled media sharing in WMP11 (x-box showed up, and allowed), all the needed ports are open in the ICS settings.

One thing.. the x-box/pc connection has a different IP address range from the pc/router connection, however that was the only way i could get the xbox live connection working.

Anyone else got a similar setup that can offer any advice on this?

Thanks

Unrelated: My games play fine but DVD's play in black and white

DVDs in B&W is probably some setting to do with PAL/NTSC somewhere - either on your TV or in the XBox output settings, if it's SCART on an old TV, try just plugging it into a different SCART socket.

I have no idea about the connection, no 360 here.

I had to install zune software.

I deleted the Zune software earlier and now I can't share between my PC and my 360.

I also had to install something else but I can't remember what.

Tried loads of things... was getting really close, I could feel it.

However, I just got GTAIV this afternoon... so I'm giving up for now, will report back later.

Although I'll probably just end up running an ethernet straight from xbox to the router and disabling the internet connection sharing on my pc... seems to have done the job for a lot of people.

Tis good to know that I can get x-box live without dragging a cable through the house or buying the x-box wireless adapter though.

I got it to work yesterday. East to use my ass. None of the guides I used worked or were any help.

If you don't have Windows media player 11, get it. go into the media sharing menu and see if you have xbox 360 in the menu. If you do all you need to do is allow that and it should be fine. Thats probably not the case though because that's too easy.

I used a third party programme called tversity, messed about with the settings and it worked perfectly.
