The Constant Gardener
This is an awesome movie, straight off the bat. A movie about a member of the government and his ethically motivated wife who is murdered and he finds himself completing her journey while exposing corporate and governmental cover-ups which eventually lead to her killers.
It’s a great psychological thriller set in Northern Kenya and one that embraces current affairs, something that seems to be more and more popular a subject matter in today’s films.
Its the first movie I’ve seen starring Ralph Fiennes and the second I have watched directed by the excellent Fernando Meirelles, its a brilliant story revealing the lengths to which corporations and corrupt governments go to to protect financial interests and profit.
A definate Oscar contender the film manages to mix the elements of a strong romance story and psychological thriller into one winning formula while placing the story firmly in the realms of current affairs and political issues.
