The Grizzly Man

The Grizzly Man

Well we all went to see this tonight and it’s definately something worth going to see. Although I wasn’t totally impressed by the film I have to say that for what it is it really does deliver a message. Basically it’s a true story based around a man, Timothy Treadwell, who decides that he needs a fresh start in life and this change of direction takes him to the remote lands of Alaska where he decides to spend the summer of every year for the next 13 years until is, some might say, untimely death at the hands of his hosts.

He’s hell-bent on helping these Grizzly bears that he starts to loose contact with reality and embarks on a one man battle to ensure the survival of the Alaskan Grizzly Bear.

The movie is divided between satire, dark humour, educational documentary and biography. Because it’s created by combining sections of over 1000 hours of video footage Tim takes during the 13 years, the film does feel a bit choppy in places, but that is understandable. Some of the footage is remarkable and the contact he makes with the bears is nothing short of jaw dropping, but this man was crazy. Well maybe not crazy, but he definately had balls, big ones at that.

barry posted a thread about this in the arts, but i think it was only us two that posted. sorry to be pedantic, but i think it said the footage was only from the last 5 years of his visits.

i really enjoyed this film! and as u said the contact he makes is jaw dropping. that aswell as the little foxes being his pals! i think would agree his death was untimely,i mean if he has went home at the time he usual does he would have still been alive.very sad,but amazing.

The scene where he goes totally crazy at EVERYONE was mental, and then all of a sudden he goes back to his gentle self and then freaks out again.
