Doomsday

Cyberpunks rule the roost in a futuristic post apocalyptic Scotland. Well, thats the important part anyway, because any other plotline to the movie is heavily overshadowed by these primitive, yet captivating survivors of the Reaper Virus. Yes, Thats right, another day another Virus movie. Major Eden Sinclair leads a team of agents into a quarantined Scotland (by a 30ft wall constructed around the country in it's entirety) to find a possible cure for it as three decades on the Virus has popped up it's cheeky beak in the heart of London. They Face a violent struggle against time, the barren land and the people contained within it.

Neil Marshall of Dog Soldiers fame, writes us a fast paced gore-fest, set in the heart of Scotland, and if like me your a Scot, you'll find it bloody brilliant with it's little pieces of Scottish Humour here and there. The Punks leader Sol, for example couldn't be more Scottish if you threw tin of Irn Bru at his head. With his Glaswegian accent and what would appear to be a saltire painted on the back of his bonce he's a true Scottish Bastard. A definitive Lovable villain.

The Set pieces are great, the CGI is kept to a minimum when it comes to the gore, which is a must to any fan of horror as blood certainly flys in this movie we see heads a flying, faces exploding and Rabbits disintegrating into red mist (WTF??). The CGI in general is pretty good too when it appears, it's not prefect however and it would have be good to recognise a little more of Scotland but maybe thats just because I'm a Scot myself.

From start to Finish, I enjoyed this, it was good fun, the gore was ace, the characters likeable and the final dramatic Homage to Mad Max was well Done. Who'd have thought a Jag decorated with corpses could look so good!
