AAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhh
yeah walker just told me he has it too... so it turns out its the same one. lol. I think its under 250 quid down at sound control, which isnt bad for a 100w solid state... i think i may get it or something similair, im totally stuck for cash at the moment... *doh*

MG100hdfx - This amp is ok, altho, sometimes, like most solid state amps, the distortion sounds pish (like a fly trapped inside a biscuit tin), but if you spend enough time twiddling knobs, you can get it to sound ok. The handy thing is the built in digital FX, which are not the best quality but are easy to use and are ok for live stuff. Also, 2 fully independant, foot switchable channels are handy, as is the parallel FX loop. Another benifit is that its very light so you wont break your back or your bank.
Best to try a few out before you buy tho. ![]() |

Our 2nd guitarist has that but it's in a combo. All the equipment stays at mine and i choose that over the Peavey Bandit for when i'm playin guitar. You can get it to sound pretty good but the combo's bloody heavy. Think it's got 2 10" speakers but im not sure.

yeah i realise this head is nothing compared to a good tube head, but i really cant afford that... im planning on trying to get a decent OD sound using pedals for a bit of a boost... i'll have a play around with some different stuff though!

Nah, its 12" speakers in the MG250dfx and MG100dfx. Main difference obviously being that the MG250 has stereo effects. |

Oh, and if anyone is selling an older vintage marshall tube head, or in fact any decent head, let me know... because i'd love to find something better for a similair price...

owen uses an avt 100 combo, and its pretty good. Obviously it doesn't compare to a real tube amp, but it sounds pretty good. Much thick distortion than most solidstate stuff. Hybrid stuff is cool, but it wont cut it at high volumes, it clips like a beast.
I got my jcm 900 for £300ish second hand, and it fucking rocks. you should check out second hand gear before you buy any new solidstate stuff. also, try to get as good a cabinet as possible, it makes all the difference. mine is ok, but i need a new one. |
