open G is good, altho it makes most of your stuff sound like the rolling stones (not necessarily a bad thing).
DADGBD

Also, the guy from coldplay uses fuckd up tunings. i know you all probably think coldplay are lame but tune your guitar to:
EABGBB and play this chord - 790800

or tune the top 2 strings a semitone sharp (EADGCF) and play this - x57700

robs is on a distinguished road
I dont really see the point in tuning your guitar all shoogley. Most of the time, with a bit of a stretch, you can play the same thing in EADGBE

-i'm just using the last one as example-

Assuming your tuning low-high (and assuming i've got my thinking cap on correctly) you can play the same thing at 300222 (dmaj7/G) It might not sound quite as pretty though, I can't really be arsed tuning to find out

Get what your saying, but you could tune your guitar in some ways where it would be impossible to stretch to the chord you wanted using EADGBE. Messing about with the tuning can open up a whole lot of new possibilities, but i'm not discrediting EADGBE, I use that most of the time anyway.

And the last bit, it's far too late to get my head around that

Try D-G-C-G-C-D.

Its the tuning that Jimmy Page used on The Rain Song. Flippin' marvellous!
