Get something circular, maybe 5 or 6 inches. Place it on the side of the resonant bass skin that doesnt get seen and dram round it with a pencil, push fairly hard so it leaves a mark then get a stanly knife and cut it, it should just slide through it if you have pushed hard enough with a pencil and if you've stencilled the thing accuratley you should get a nice neat hole

we didnt even take the skin off the drum to cut it. im not even sure if we used a circle stencil or anything. DIY AS FUCK! but yeah that pretty much works if you tape up the circle after. it doesnt have to be perfect
