Hasn't someone asked this question before ? ? ?

surely you notice the difference in sound if you turn up the bass, or the treble, cut the mid etc etc, and graphic equilizers are just the same but on narrower bands, but more conrtols, so theres more overall control.

they allow you to cut or boost certain frequencys. like if you boost the treble on a guitar amp you are probably boosting frequencys between 3-6khz quite a wide bandwidth, but if you cut on a graphic it'll have a narrow bandwidth (depending on how many bands it has) If you are doing live sound you can take advantage of this by notching out the frequency that is feeding back. I woundn't say you get more control with a graphic, you can get just as much with a fully parametric eq and they are easier to set up quickly, but graphic eq's are more suited to certain applications.

I was just saying you get more control than the standard bass/mid/treble eq, having paramatic eq is pretty sweet aswell, the change the mid shift dial can make on my amp are pretty impressive

dumb question: what EXACTLY is the difference between graphic and parametric?? one of those obvious things I never picked up because it's so obvious that no one needs to explain it...

technical question: how come tone frequency is measured in hz, but so is pitch frequency...? how can that work? does it work that way? am i horribly mistaken? argh!

Full Parametric has 2 dials for each part (treble bass and mid) , so you can select what frequencys you want to boost.

How can you get an Encore strat copy to sound like a Gibson Les Paul?

erm... eh... well... must... not... reply... in patronising manner... ^_^

you really really can't. a strat copy will have single coil pickups, which sound and act completely different to humbucking pickups (basically two single coils wired together in series to give double output), which les paul type guitars have.

Encore do make les paul copies, one of which was my first guitar... could have done worse for £120.

otherwise, just search for an amp/od pedal etc. that sounds as big, full, bassy, harmonically rich etc. as possible.
