I'd recommend listerine or mayo mixed with white spirits or turps.

its pretty cheap anyway, other stuff like WD40 works but it'll leave a residue.

Its a temporary fix usually anyway, if the pots crackling, chances are it needs replaced.

Tally ho chaps. In 8 years of playing i have managed to avoid this but alas the other day i discovered i have a dead fret on the 8th fret of my low E on an electric guitar. Anyone have any advice? (other than cursing loudly) Cheers!

Pubic Wig, your fret buzz will most likely be ironed out by a simple set- up, a procedure which will have your guitar optimised for prime picking purposes and thus is worth doing in any case.

I recommend Nico Westhizzle of NJW guitar services LTD inc, he has served me well on many occasions, and is a good looking and friendly young man to boot. Luckily for you, he posts on this very site, and has in fact done so in this very thread.
