Do any other bassists out there have a solution to stop my fingers hurting so much, i normally play with a plec, but i decided to try and finger for a change.

keep playing, sounds cleche but the more you play with your fingers ( ) the harder the skin will get as it develops calaces. I started off playing using only fingers and can keep playing for however long without them hurting at all, it only takes a couple months tops really. hope that helps

yeh you're fingers can get ripped to fuck at first but as mo says, u fingers toughen up eventually.....the blister saga is the worst part of the story tho :S

Im actually doing it the other way round, im trying to move onto pick more now, its harder to get some of the faster riffs that jump between strings tho, meh, takes practice i guess

honestly, you'll get nose grease on your fingers and it lubricates them, works for both hands

try a thumb plectrum, it goes where you want it to.

I dont like thumb picks, i cant get playing fast enough with them, im used to using 3 sometimes 4 fingers, so its kinda hard to get the same speed going with a pick, even tho its apparently easier to play quickly with one
