First guitar ?

So I'm a bassist, but I want to play guitar, and I also have a problem with the speed at which I can play i.e. my fretting fingers don't move as fast as I would like them to. And I've come to the conclusion that learning guitar (professionally) will a) teach me how to play guitar, d'uh ... and b) speed up my fingers considerably.

But yeah, basically, what's a good first guitar, one that'll last me for a while and wouldn't look out of place on stage, what I'm getting at here is I don't want a squier strat, I want something with a bit of crediblility, but that isn't going to cost me a hell of a lot.

depends on what sound you want man.... if its metally stuff you might wanna go with a cheap ibanez, maybe one lacking a floyd rose tremelo? or perhaps an epiphone sg. they are rather good. and less than 400 pounds too. if i was you i would practice scales backwards and forwards like a mofo to get the fingers up to speed, buy a scale book or get lessons for this, and learn as many exersises and songs as possible. and above all.... and this is a must for anyone... get a really big mirror, and pose and prance around in front of it.

I was thinking maybe that ...

For the simple reason that I have an RBX374 bass and it's amazing.

Opinions ?

I went from bass to guitar too.. my first (and still only) guitar is a Gordon Smith GS2. But I've fitted some Seymores so it sounds a bit beefier than it used to

Can you not get four kramer strats for 100 quid?

They're shit, but at least you've got three to smash up.

eek no andeh don't buy a cheap ibanez, all the new ones are horrible. If your going to be spending around 300 to 400 quid go to sound control and ask about the Jackson in there.
