Another amp question.
I'm toying with the idea of buying a new amp as I don't think my JCM800 2210, even when I have it re-valved, has a particularly good clean sound, which is just as important to me as my dirty sound. My brother's thinking about buying it to use with his Fender Twin.
So, since I've heard such great things about them, I'm thinking about an Orange. Initially I was thinking of the AD30 or an AD140 with a THD hotplate, then there's the Rocker series, Rockerverb 50 or Rockerverb 100 with the hotplate. My question: Would I be just as well off with the lower powered amps as I would be with the 100 watt/hotplate combination? What are the pros and cons? Ross Nicoll, you own an Orange don't you? Have you, or anyone else here, played both the AD and Rocker series amps? Thoughts? I get the impression they'd all sound real good. Would the Orange sound suit a post/indie/rock-rock band? (our myspace site) I noticed Sound Control are authorized Orange dealers, I'll hopefully get a play of them in there. |

Hi. It depends on your style of playing. I play with quite alot of attack so i prefer te 30watt AD series. the 50watt rockerverb is better if you play quite softly. rainbow have both AD30 and Rockerverb50 in at the mo. go try them out. or next time we are playing you are welcome to come along at sound check and try mine through the 4x12" |

I tend to play quite hard usually and occassionally very soft. Would the 30 or 50 watt amps, unmiked, hold their ground against 2 100 watt amps, drums and bass at small gigs? |
