Vocal Effects

Can anyone give advice for our singer please? He is wondering if there are any good vocal effects boards or pedals, or does everyone just use the vocal effects built into a PA amp?

the pod is pretty good for distorting vocals live, also has delay and reverb on it. its not designed for use with a mic, but would probably work quite well if you wanted distortion without the screaming feedback you'd get from a guitar stomp box. I would use 2 mics one for unprocessed, one for processed and switch mics when you want the crazy fx.
