Pedal for lead stuff
Ok, at the minute i just use my jackhammer for everything, chordy stuff and lead stuff. this is a bit of a compromise so i've decided i need another pedal for lead stuff.
obvious question, which one? i quite like the marshall pedals, nice and sturdy, and was even thinking of just getting another jackhammer and setting it differently but reckon thats a bit of a cop out. my band plays mostly ska stuff so nothing to death metally. any suggestions? |

are you fairly happy with the sound you get bt just want it a bit louder for solo's? if thats the case you could just go for an EQ pedal or a compressor. |

hello friend. What kind of amp do you use? solid-state/hybrid or all tube? If you use an all tube amp you have more better options. Using a booster type pedal (mxr micro amp, spf egobooster, keeley katana etc) or a good transparent high output overdrive (spf greenline, crowther hotcake, ibanez ts808) in conjunction with your current equipment (marshall pedal) will drive your amp harder and the resultant higher gain saturation will provide a fine smooth sustaining lead sound.
However using a solid state/hybrid amplifier is harder as it is a fact that you can NEVER get a good overdriven sound from clipping transistors. Using a booster pedal before, a good quality germanium transistor overdrive will get you similar effects as described above( by driving the pedal with a higher gain clean signal) but won't ever get close in terms of audio fidelity. |
