Decent Cheap Guitars
Im looking to buy a cheap guitar to mess about with at home.

Sticking point is the neck etc has to be tough etc as ill be putting 13's on it and putting the tuning in A.

Anyone got any recomendations? Or anyone selling any guitars that may fit the bill?

as someone else has mentioned, pacifica is a good buy, schecters are great around that kind of money too,they're what i'd lean towards.

the neck isn't that much of an issue, it's gonna need a setup but 13's in A don't create that much more tension than say a set of 10's in E really.

Hear ya man. it was the lack of tension that i was more worried about but as im not a guitarist i dont really know about these things.

LP specials are only about 100 quid and the SG specials are around the same i think? OR an SG G310 is 160 but good for the cash.

I think for that price you're prolly best at looking at some of the low end, Jap' Ibanez's.
Second hand is prolly the best bet though. But make sure you take someone with you who knows about guitars to have a look at it for you like.

you'll be able to pickup a cheap second hand RG series ibanez for that kinda money, good sound downtuned...but why on earth would you want to use 13s and tune to A if you were just about to learn? haha!

I got myself a Yamaha ERG-121 a fair bit back for £150 or something and people have commented saying its a pretty good guitar. I wouldnt know myself.

I have the basic idea of how a guitar works. I want to use 13's as my band tunes the guitars to A therefore using 13's like they do would give me a more accurate representation of what they play thus enabling me to hopefully write music along the lines that they do.

the 2nd hand squier's from the 80's, made in america assembled in korea, are damn well built, they just cheaped out on pick-ups... you can find them on ebay for about £100
