Laney Amps

apparently not, everyone i've come across so far has sounded like an angry badger in a biscuit tin.

The Laney GH100S aka GH100Ti (Toni Iommi Signature) is a really nice head but only if you want Stoner rock sound. This amp is only one channel and doesn't do clean to well, a bit too noisey, but the driven sound is pure Sabbath.

Isnt that what they have in room 3 at stage?

Its a laney GH100 something anyways, and, i dont like it, the distortion just sounds sterile and cold, just lacking, altho, i will admit, stage isnt exactly the fountain of primo equipment

Alot of the studios I've been to have shit cabs probably just due to constant use/abuse. Might not even be the same speakers it came with.

I hate those Line 6 4 x 12's as well that I've seen in some studios, the speakers in that are shit.

that amp gives out a fuckin horrific sound and feeds back sooo much.

Its difficult to judge a valve head based on what one sounds like, there is so much that can vary from head to head, unmatched valves, old valves, dried out caps.

I dont think it has much technically wrong with it, no volume drops or sustained notes, or wooshy sounds etc etc, and there arent any dull valves, tho, to anyone who goes in there, they should be careful, one (at least) of the sockets is dodgy, last time we were there the vocalist/guitarist in my band got a shock off the mic, and when i went near it i was fine. I plugged the guitar amp into another wall socket (fairly typical grounding problem, and i assumed it was the guitar amp because it wasnt happening to me), and it was fine from then, so, i suspect that one (at least) of the sockets is dodgy

(which, could affect the sound too if theres a dirty supply)

i don't want to badmouth stage, but they should sort that out. could be fatal.

the thing that annoys me about stage is..they are always really busy..and their prices arent the best..so they must be makin an absolute fortune! so why the hell havent they got new gear!?

Apparently they put a new speaker in it! it probably wont be the right kind tho, just the cheapest they could get. Only took them 2 years to do that!

I got regular shocks in Room 2, but it was sorted out.
